Justice Philosophy               The Peacemaker Project

Manna's Justice Philosophy

"He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God."

Micah 6: 8

Quite simply, a church that does not have a heart for justice and do justice is not faithful. We take this seriously at Manna. For a fuller explanation on our "justice ministry philosophy" go to the Justice Page.

Justice Team

This is the overall visioning and coordinating team for Manna's justice vision and ministries. This team will also run a Bible study. Manna's justice efforts will have a close Biblical tie or it won't be done. This is not a political lobby. Click below if you are interested in this important ministry.

Homeless Ministry

How we treat the homeles is how we treat Jesus. We will work with the many fine groups, both Christian and secular, that are already ministering to the homeless. We will only start independent ministries in this area if we see a glaring gap in existing ministries. We will run a church food bank and clothes ministry. Truth & Justice

Jesus said that if we obeyed Him, we would know the truth. The truth sets us free. (John 8: 31-32) The evangelical church has generally interpreted this as applying to individuals, but this also applies to the church corporately. This task is for every church. We will not shirk from this duty. Subject to the Bible, we need crack researchers to find out the truth about our social environment. The facts and sources of information will be documented and available to the church for its ministry use and other churches. If you are interested in such a ministry, please click below.

Poverty Ministry

Poverty ministries will have a dual focus. First, there is a need to alleviate immediate needs. Secondly, there is a need to empower those in poverty on both an individual/familial basis and a communal basis. If you read the Scriptures, it is clear that poverty and the catchphrases also pointed to those who lacked power. Empowerment is a Christian ministry. This can include job training, English as a Second Language, but it also can include community justice projects. We will work with existing groups or independently according to how the Lord leads. However, we will always work from a Biblical basis. There are many groups involved with the poor, a few do have suspect agendas. Once again, poverty is a sin issue, not a political bandwagon. Micro-Finance

This is an exciting ministry currently under development at Manna. Micro-finance involves giving very small loans to poor people and community organizations. A separate corporation would be set up that cooperates Manna. This venture would have to maintain a small profit margin in order to be self-perpetuating. Also, we need people who are experienced in risk management, yet willing to be creative and not risk adverse. (Does such a person exist?) We can not start this until we have Christians experienced in finance to initiate this program. I, the pastor, have had some finance and risk management at the MBA level, but I am a total novice. I need people to help initiate this who know what they are doing. Although microfinance has been practiced more in the Third World, it is being practiced some in the United States. We would wish to start a microfinance ministry here in the Inland Empire. We would partner with an ethnic church with overseas reach, if God leads that way. This is a tremendous ministry. Pray about it and click below to contact Manna.

Community Reconciliation

Communities are in stress. Immigration, rapid change, and rapid growth cause tremendous community stress. Drugs, poverty, and other social stresses accelerate in a rapidly growing area like ares. Plus new communal stresses are caused as cultures grow, mix, clash, and interact. Christians must play a role in reconciling and uniting this most diverse community on earth. What an opportunity for the Christian witness. If you are interesed, please click below.

Community Transformation

There is a giant experiment occurring right where we live. Demographers from all over the world have set up shop to see what is happening right here in the Inland Empire. What will our community become? What will it look like? This is an incredible opportunity for service, ministry, and witness? These demographers believe we are the preview for the worldwide suburban community that is forming all over the world. They will make recommendations depending upon what happens here. If you have any sense of mission, you will be excited by this ministry. If you are interested, please click below.

Peacemaking

This may be the most ignored and reviled ministry in the evangelical church. We will be exploring peacemaking in its aspects. However, stopping wars is part of peacemaking. Pacificism or not is an issue debated by serious Christians and won't be resolved in our church. We will respect our differences. However, an evangelical church that has supported every war that America has fought for over a century must seriously be questioned. If you are interested in such a ministry, please click below.
